Success Story Würth IT

Würth IT automates 2 M job runs per month with just 4 full-time employees

Summary

A Gartner study estimates that by 2024, companies will be able to reduce their operating costs by up to 30% by combining hyperautomation technologies with optimized operating processes. Large companies have been using this strategy for some time to increase their innovative strength and competitiveness. Automation, including modern workload automation such as BatchMan, plays a central role in this.

Würth IT, the global service provider of the Würth Group, recognized this trend early on and has been seamlessly automating its SAP processes endtoend with BatchMan from HONICO for over 20 years. New technologies are constantly being integrated, and even the hybrid transition to SAP S/4HANA is no obstacle. With the help of this solution, Würth IT can process two million fully automated job runs per month worldwide in a demanding SAP / non-SAP environment with a compact IT team. Without the use of the software, it would not be possible for the Würth IT team to handle this volume of workload with SAP on-board resources.

Industry: IT services, digitalization

Use Case: Savings on manual activities, 2 million jobs per month, SAP S/4 HANA

Advantages: Seamless E2E automation, reliable and smooth operation

Product: BatchMan

Efficient resource optimization & effective long-term planning

The BatchMan masters control 21 productive SAP systems, which comprise around 30,000 background jobs with a total of 70,000 steps, and thus enable smooth coordination of the complex data flows at Würth IT. BatchMan‘s diverse planning and control options allow runtime plans to be created several years in advance without the need for continuous manual intervention. This makes operational planning considerably easier and frees up resources.

Within the Würth Group, the use of BatchMan enables a team of just four full-time employees to handle two million job runs per month. With BatchMan, the team always has an overview of the complex landscape.

Würth IT relies on HONICO

  • Centralized creation, planning and management of IT tasks/workloads

  • Control of hybrid environments/cloud from a single point

Hybrid File Transfer: event-based job processing and managed file transfer

  • Visualization & modelling thanks to no-code platform

  • Central monitoring and error handling

  • Reliable consulting & support

Seamless automation & central monitoring

By integrating SAP and BatchMan into the central monitoring environment, the team at Würth IT is provided with notifications or alerts in near real time in the event of an error. Regardless of whether a job has been aborted or has not started as planned, the system ensures continuous monitoring around the clock.

Another advantage is the software‘s ability to display complex dependencies and process sequences (networks can be nested within one another): this enables fully automated, global processing of cross-company scheduling, invoicing and billing processes in a wide variety of time zones and across SAP systems. Würth IT can thus ensure fully automated processing of daily, monthly and annual financial statements as well as seamless intercompany billing.

Precise load distribution & user-oriented flexibility

With regard to parallel job executions, the IT team at Würth IT is able to elegantly manage fluctuations in the system load and prevent unnecessary overloads thanks to intelligent load distribution with the help of interface jobs.

Another helpful feature is the „user job“: BatchMan offers the option of transferring the start of selected jobs to the user so that they can start the job at the desired time according to their activities. Thanks to the clear authorization concept, it is possible to define exactly which user is allowed to execute which user jobs. The interface concept, which protects the Würth system from overloading, also applies here.

Long-term cooperation & reliable stability as a trademark

The Würth Group‘s long-standing collaboration with the software manufacturer HONICO has always been stable and constructive. Suggestions from customers are not only appreciated, but also carefully examined and taken into account during further development. If problems arise, HONICO always provides support at short notice.

The exceptional stability of the software is an indicator of its high quality. Each version, which is carefully tested by the manufacturer, guarantees reliable and smooth operation for the Würth Group.
